Norwegian symphonic black metal band DIMMU BORGIR have released “Ascent”, the second single from their upcoming album “Grand Serpent Rising”, which will be released on May 22nd, 2026.

The new single is a statement of intent, aggressive, violent and perversely beautiful. “Ascent” is a reminder that DIMMU BORGIR remain at the peak of their power and embody the intensity, menace and authenticity that have defined their legacy. The single is accompanied by a visually arresting music video that enhances the energy and dark atmosphere of the song.
DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath says of the track: “Musically, ‘Ascent’ is wilder and more direct than the first single ‘Ulvgjeld & Blodsødel’. The two songs together are a great showcase for the album’s musical range. We’ve said from the beginning that Grand Serpent Rising is one of our most diverse albums to date, and these songs prove it.”
