KANONENFIEBER have released a new single and video titled “Heizer Tenner”, which continues their focus on grim stories from World War I. With this song, the band delves into the story of stokers serving aboard a German warship during the Battle of Jutland in 1916. The song focuses on the brutal reality of life deep in the boiler rooms, where survival depended more on endurance than heroism. The lyrics are based on historical details, which is a key element of KANONENFIEBER’s approach.

“During the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916, the ship was knocked out of action by heavy artillery fire in the North Sea west of Jutland and was helplessly taking further hits. Deep inside the ship’s hull, men fought a hopeless battle against exhaustion and suffocation amidst the superheated boilers, trying to escape the steam and inundating water. The song expresses the extreme physical strain and inevitable fate of those who perished buried deep below decks when the ship sank in the early hours of 1 June 1916.”

Musically, the single sticks to the band’s established sound. However, it also leans towards a darker mood at times. The harsh riffs, energetic drums and somber atmosphere create a song that feels both aggressive and tense.
